Mitchell O. Driskell, III, a shareholder in the Oxford, Mississippi office of Daniel Coker Horton and Bell, P.A., has been named to the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 for 2014. Driskell focuses his law practice in the areas of Insurance Bad Faith and Coverage, Public Entity/Governmental Liability and Transportation Law. He received his J.D. from University of Mississippi (cum laude) in 2000. Driskell serves on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association and is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Mississippi Bar Association. He received the award in person at the MBJ Top 40 Under 40 Awards Ceremony held on April 4, 2014.
Terry Levy was named Mississippi Business Journal's 2013 Lawyer of the Year at the MBJ's Leadership in Law dinner held on December 11, 2013 at the Jackson Hilton. Forty Mississippi attorneys were honored for their contributions to the practice of law, and Levy was named Lawyer of the Year. The Leadership in Law event is four years old; prior firm Leadership in Law honorees include John Clark, Jackson Ables, and Trey Byars.

Over 600 Mississippi attorneys were nominated and only 50 were honored at a dinner reception held in Jackson on December 10, 2012. Byars was further honored by being included in the top ten award recipients. Recipients of this award are selected for legal leadership and quality of character, and the event judges are comprised of a group of judges, attorneys, MSJ editors and staff.
Ginger M. Robey spoke to the Charter Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society in Memphis on November 20, 2012. She spoke about recent changes to Mississippi Workers' Compensation laws.
DCH&B Director Robert Addison presented at a recent Continuing Legal Education Seminar hosted by the National Business Institute. The CLE was entitled "Medicaid Update 2012" and was held at the Jackson Convention Complex on March 15, 2012. Addison taught how to comply with the recent Medicare Reporting Requirements under the S-CHIP Extension Act.
Wilton V. Byars, III, has been invited to become a prime member in the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ATDA). ATDA invites only one defense trial attorney to be its prime member per one million in population. An ADTA prime membership is, in essence, a statement of the high regard in which that defense trial attorney is held by his or her peers in the defense trial bar of their city and state or province.
Jackson H. Ables was recently named to Mississippi Business Journal's Leadership in Law 2011. A Guardian Ad Litem is an independent advocate for a child in various legal matters including proceedings involving child custody, child support, child abuse and child neglect. Mitchell also serves on the Mississippi Bar Association's Child Advocacy Committee. Mitchell practices in the Oxford, Mississippi office in the areas of civil litigation and family law.
John B. Clark was recently named to Mississippi Business Journal's Leadership in Law 2010. Recipients of this award are selected for legal leadership and quality of character.
Mitchell Driskell, III, was appointed the Northern District Chairman of the Mississippi Bar's Disaster Legal Assistance Committee. The Committee organizes and provides legal assistance to those affected by natural disasters. The Northern District Chairman works with lawyers in North Mississippi in the event of a natural disaster. Mitchell practices in the Oxford, Mississippi office in the areas of civil litigation and family law.
Mitchell Driskell, III, has been appointed to serve on the Mississippi Bar Association's Child Advocacy Committee. The Committee focuses on legal issues concerning children and serves to improve the legal protection of children in Mississippi. The Child Advocacy Committee focuses on issues involving child services, child protection, child support, and child custody determinations. Mitchell practices in the Oxford, Mississippi office in the areas of civil litigation and family law.
On February 13, 2010, the Electric Cooperative Bar Association presented the ECBA Leadership Awards honoring vision, tenacity, and hard work of those members of the NRECA Lawyers Committee and the inaugural ECBA Advisory Board who were instrumental in ensuring that the objectives and goals of ECBA were met during the transition phase and through the launch of ECBA. Our own Larry D. Moffett was one of the recipients of this honor presented at the Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.
