Driskell, Ellingburg, and Long Contribute to Mississippi Bar's Summer School for Lawyers

Mitchell O.. Driskell, III, (Oxford Office) served as the Chairman of Mississippi Bar's Summer School for Lawyers Committee.  The Summer School is a three-day continuing legal education event held prior to the Bar's Annual Convention.  The Summer School is attended by hundreds of attorneys and judges.  Mitchell was responsible for the agenda, which consisted of fifteen presentations.

C. Michael Ellingburg (Jackson Office) participated in one of the panel discussions on damages in civil cases.  His remarks included comments on the difficulties with regard to written off medical expenses as discussed in a paper prepared by Ellingburg and Driskell.

Brenda G. Long (Gulfport Office) spoke on the Mississippi Torts Claim Act.  Her presentation was titled "From Notice of Claim to Trial: Techniques for Asserting and Defending MTCA Claims."   Brenda provided practical tips and strategies in defending claims filed against governmental entities based upon the specific statutory procedural requirements, the various governmental immunities, and recent court interpretations.
