Obtained Dismissal in a Civil Rights Suit Filed By One Of The County’s Former Justice Court Judges

Obtained dismissal on behalf of a county and its supervisors in a civil rights suit filed by one of the county’s former justice court judges in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.  The plaintiff alleged that he was the target of a conspiracy and was discriminated against on various basis when the county refused to sponsor his application for a federal grant and that the county failed to pay him wages due for his service as a judge. The Court agreed with defendants’ arguments that the claims were barred by collateral estoppel and the statutes of limitation and that, in any event, plaintiff failed to plead a valid cause of action.
