Daniel Coker is proud to celebrate our ten-year partnership with the University of Mississippi School of Law and our unwavering commitment to strengthening diversity in the legal profession through the Daniel Coker Horton & Bell, P.A., Diversity Scholarship.
We recognize that diversity touches upon all matters and that people can make a difference when they are heard. Encouraging ideas and viewpoints from different perspectives allows us at Daniel Coker to explore unique solutions and provide greater options to solve our clients’ issues. We believe a highly diverse legal team is better able to represent our clients.
Daniel Coker’s diversity committee, recruiting committee, and mentoring program work together to identify, recruit, hire, develop, retain, and advance qualified women and minority attorneys, professionals, and staff. Mentors prepare, guide, and assist associate attorneys. We encourage professional development and involvement in diversity activities. We advance our women and minority attorneys to partnership positions and recognize their contributions to the firm and the legal community. Attorneys at Daniel Coker serve as members of professional organizations such as the ALFA International Women’s Initiative, the Magnolia Bar Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, and the Mississippi Bar Association – Women in the Profession Committee.
We work continuously to enhance and improve Daniel Coker’s diversity efforts. In addition to on-campus interviews at our in-state law schools, we make separate inquiries at law schools seeking recommendations for minority and women candidates for clerkships. Along with hiring laterals, Daniel Coker hires from our clerkship pool, and our efforts are bearing fruit. We will continue our work diversifying our ranks to include an increasing number of women and minority attorneys, and we invite you to join us.
