George Abdo Obtains Defense Verdict In Alienation Of Affection Case – Legal Malpractice

Attorney George Abdo obtained a defense verdict in favor of attorney and attorney’s law firm in a legal malpractice action. Filed in the Circuit Court of Madison County, MS, the case involved allegations that the attorney failed to file an alienation of affection suit against the spouse’s alleged paramour before the running of the statute of limitations. The paramour’s identity was unknown until after the statute of limitations expired. Plaintiff argued that the attorney should have filed suit against “John Doe.” The jury found that although the defendants breached the standard of care, the plaintiff failed to prove that he would have prevailed in the underlying suit.
