TRIAL COURT GRANTS SUMMARY JUDGMENT IN FAVOR OF GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY

Daniel Coker attorneys, Lauren E. Ward and Wilton V. Byars, III, successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of their client in an action filed pursuant to the Mississippi Tort Claims Act. Plaintiffs alleged that the city improperly issued a building permit to an unlicensed contractor for work conducted on their home after it was damaged by fire. After thorough discovery, the Circuit Court of Prentiss County granted summary judgment to the city on all of Plaintiffs’ claims and dismissed the case without any award to the Plaintiffs.
