Unanimous Defense Verdict in Two Week Silica Trial

Obtained an unanimous defense verdict after two weeks of trial in Hinds County Circuit Court, First Judicial District, Judge Winston L. Kidd Presiding.

Plaintiff claimed he developed silicosis from overexposure to silica from working around or with DCHB’s client’s blasting sand product. His case was based on an alleged failure to adequately warn of the known hazards of sand blasting. Other defendants were manufacturers or sellers of respiratory protection equipment used in sand blasting operations whose products plaintiff claimed did not adequately protect him from respirable silica because of lack of adequate warnings and design defects.
